SELANGOR BRINGS DISCOURSE ON “SELANGOR REGIONAL POWERHOUSE ROADMAP” TO BARCELONA, SPAIN

Document serves to guide Selangor enroute achievement of ‘Smart State’ status

SHAH ALAM: Malaysia’s most progressive State, Selangor, through its investment arm Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor), recently launched the Selangor Regional Powerhouse Roadmap to further enhance its resolve towards realising its vision and aspiration as a regional economic power.

The document was launched by Selangor Menteri Besar, YAB Tuan Amirudin Shari at the Smart City Expo World Congress SCEWC in Barcelona, Spain recently.

The Chief Executive Officer of MBI Selangor YM Raja Shahreen Raja Othman said the launch was held in Barcelona since the event served as a platform that brought together industry players, specialists and stakeholders in the international arena, with in-depth knowledge of future township and urban development, thus exposing MBI Selangor to much needed responses and constructive criticisms from relevant quarters.

“We have in fact received feedbacks from a few countries that saw the potential to be gained from joint cooperation with us with regard to this guiding plan,” explained Raja Shahreen.

He added that MBI Selangor has held forums and talks with stakeholders in Malaysia to get their feel, reactions and feedbacks. The inputs were then documented into a guiding plan encompassing 11 fields of smart focus and 10 initiatives to help prepare the outline that will enable Selangor to move forward in line with its aspiration to become a Smart State by 2025.

The publication also includes speeches of the Chief Minister and gist of his consultations with major stakeholders to gauge their vision of Selangor post-2025.

Raja Shahreen noted that their current challenge is to think outside the box in trying to find solutions to handle anticipated issues faced by the State. One plausible means is to focus on developing young talent capitalising on the strength of youth capabilities. This will definitely be amongst the key focus of MBI Selangor as a fully-owned entity of the State.
